According to the Special Report No.63 published by Census and Statistics Department in 2020, in 2019 the population of intellectually disabled in Hong Kong was likely to be around between 77,000 to 90,000, not to mention the total survey figures for mentally and physically disabled persons of around 534,200.

- According to the same report, among the 150,800 individuals with disabilities who had a specific carer, 52.4% of their primary specific carers reported feeling stressed due to caregiving in the month prior to the survey. For the 162,000 individuals with chronic diseases who had specific needs, the corresponding percentage was 54.9%. Among the 79,100 individuals with disabilities whose primary specific carers said they felt stressed level as mild, and 30.9% described it as somewhere between mild and severe. For the 88,900 individuals with chronic disease who had specific needs, the corresponding figures were 56% and 27% respectively.

Surely the numbers are rising.
